The 2024 Grammys saw indie rock and alternative at the forefront of nominations, with indie trio boygenius winning three of their six nominations, including Record of The Year for Not Stong Enough. With 2025 Grammy nominations announcements this Friday, it’s looking as though the 67th Annual Grammy Awards will see pop at the forefront of the big four categories: Album of the Year, Record of The Year, Song of The Year and Best New Artist.

The 2025 Grammys will take place on Feb. 2 live in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network and stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The Recording Academy added 2,000 new voting members this year (bringing the total number of voting members to 13,000), according to Billboard. A change this year includes all eligibly credited featured artists with under 50% playtime will now be awarded a Winners’ Certificate for all genre album categories (this does not apply to Best Musical Theater Album, the General Field or Craft Categories).

While pop is at the forefront of big Grammy categories, The Rockhound takes a look at rock and alternative categories to make her best predictions for nominees.
